Hello
Hello and welcome, I am Mark Khutan and this picture shows me hanging out with my wife and my two kids.
Together we run this site and look to produce resources and sessions to help move people forward in their mathematics knowledge so that they can achieve their goals.
I know that mathematics can be a struggle for a lot of people, but I am here to tell you, "if Khutan Can, then You Can Too". I apologise, I promised someone I would write that. On a serious note though, being good at mathematics is a product of good guidance, great work ethic and a healthy confidence in yourself. Good luck in your journey, I hope that we are able to help you in some way and am excited to see you progress!
My Story
I was born in the UK and was raised in west London my whole life. Being from an indian family I decided to follow something that my parents would be happy with and I was good at, so I studied Mathematics at Manchester University. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for work so I decided to so some post graduate degrees in Actuarial Science, financial & insurance mathematics, as I heard it pays well.
| worked in finance for about 7 years but felt like something was missing, I finally made the switch to teaching. It was a big change but I found I really enjoyed it, it certainly has its challenges but it is extremely satisfying.
I hope that I can impart some knowledge to students so that it helps them in life, and if I can do that, it has all been worthwhile. I have been teaching mathematics in secondary schools now for over a decade, mark exam papers for the exam boards, do private tuition and generally been around mathematics for over 40 years now but the best advice I heard about teaching came from a quote "No one cares what you know, until they know that you care".
Caring for the student is the at core of our mission statement, we care about where they are now and what they want to achieve and will always do whatever we can to help them along the way.
